Alan Wake's American Nightmare CES 2012 Hands-On Preview -- Wakey Wakey - G4TV

"I’ve never been a fan of cookie cutter sequels; the games that try to maintain as much of their fanbase as possible by changing as little as possible. Luckily, the masterminds at Remedy Entertainment aren’t big fans of the status quo either. Their upcoming title, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare not only represents a drastic shift in the tone of the game, but will also now be a downloadable title available on the XBLA."

The Top Xbox 360 Games of 2012 -

"Remedy has changed the linear structure of the 2010 game into a more open hub area for players to snoop around, shoot weird enemies in, and puzzle over metafiction/game puzzles. It's cool when talented developers such as Double Fine and Remedy shift from lengthy development cycles to smaller games, so that we get more than one game every six years."

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare Preview - Planet Xbox360

CES 2012 Hands On: Alan Wake: American Nightmare - AggroGamer

"At which point I found out that the single player campaign is another 5-6 hours of story based on Alan's first show he wrote for. More or less an episode from the show that takes place in Arizona with new creatures and environments."

How Does Alan Wake's American Nightmare Tie In To The Original Game? - Game Informer

"Even after the credits are rolling, we still may not know where the game takes place in the Alan Wake timeline, or if it even happened at all. Maybe it will all be a dream like Super Mario Bros. 2, and the game will end with Alan snoring in bed, wearing a stocking cap emblazoned with the letter M with the sheets pulled up to his chin. Also, he will have a mustache."

The Biggest Xbox 360 Games of 2012 - IGN

"As a follow up to the beloved 2010 horror game, many gamers initially took issue with the fact that Alan Wake's next game, American Nightmare, would be available as a downloadable title through Xbox LIVE Arcade. However, after learning more about the game, it's pretty safe to say that those fears are unfounded."

Hands-on with Remedy’s Alan Wake sequel, American Nightmare - Digital Trends

"For an arcade game, American Nightmare signifies a bit of a shift in the business model. It is a standalone game, but it also plays out like an episode in a retail game. The quality is there in terms of graphics and gameplay mechanics, and for a game that is likely going to cost under $15, five hours of story and an arcade mode that has an immense amount of replay is an incredible value."

PREVIEW - Alan Wake: American Nightmare - XXLGaming

"This game is definitely a great addition to the Alan Wake franchise and will keep folks busy until we hear something of Alan Wake 2. For now support Remedy and grab this game when its released especially if you are a fan of the franchise."

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare Preview - Now Gamer

"The Twilight Zone-aping setting of Night Springs – a place where mad doctors commit quantum suicide and hapless investigators are impregnated with an alien brood – suggests an Alan Wake game more self-aware and willing to poke fun at the sillier elements of its story, a shift in tone perhaps partly inspired by the success of 2010’s bonkers survival horror Deadly Premonition. Whatever the reason, it works. It’s a welcome change, as is the greater focus on combat."

Alan Wake: American Nightmare - A Picture Preview Of Alan Wake American Nightmare - Game Informer

"We previously detailed the first half hour of American Nightmare, but at this year's CES we got hands on time with another level of the game. This is our journey through Alan Wake's dark twisted fantasy."

CES: Alan Wake's American Nightmare kicked my ass - Destructoid

"The combat is also more frantic than ever. Enemies are much more aggressive and the pace of the game is very quick. Even as an experienced player, American Nightmare ripped me a new one and neither of my two attempts to survive the ten minute round met with success."

Alan Wake: Now With The Sweet Horde Mode You Never Asked For - Kotaku

"Yes, you read that right. Alan Wake now has a horde mode, and a rather good one at that."

Alan Wake: American Nightmare Hands-on [CES 2012] - Shogun Gamer

"With everything I’ve seen so far it looks like Remedy's idea of using Alan Wake as vessel to write love letters to some of their favorite horror authors is one that could actually be viable. While American Nightmare may not have the same dark, weighted motif of the original it’s still an interesting and original game that feels like something new."
