I'll give it one game development cycle until both of those studios dissolve. EA has a bad habit of absorbing the good developers and leaving behind corpses of games. Look what happened to Origin and Bullfrog...

Don't forget Burnout. The first game was a GameCube classic. Now it's just saturated crap filled to the brim with mainstream emo and faux indie garbage, or "EA GamesTM Trax."

Hey, they haven't bought SquareSoft yet. Right?

It's on their to-do list, below "assimilate Shigeru Miyamoto".

Firstly, EA CFO Warren Jenson commented that his company has "had our eye on these studios for several years", and underlined the main reason for the acquisition of the two developers - that it "fills out a gap in our genre line-up". In other words, where EA was under-represented in RPG, action, and adventure titles, according to CFO Jenson, the BioWare and Pandemic purchase has now helped fill the gap.

...

Overall, he stressed, it was "an important step for us in driving growth and profitability"

Three cheers for growth and profitability. Can't wait to see it in Neverwinter Nights '08.

I think Burnout is still bloody great games. There's something mad about them, which is very non-EA. And you can play your own music, so Burnout never was as bad posing-wise as NFS or those games.

Don't take out all the blame on Obsidian, they were simply forced by Lucasarts to release a sequel within a very tight deadline.

http://www.lucasartsbioware.com/ - press release (http://www.lucasartsbioware.com/) :

"October 30, 2007 — LucasArts and BioWare Corp. today announced that they have entered into an agreement to create an interactive entertainment product. The product, details of which will be unveiled at a later date, will be developed and published by BioWare and LucasArts, and will push the boundaries of the gaming market by utilizing the strengths of both companies to deliver an innovative, high-quality experience."

Star Wars Kotor 3 vs Kotor Online !
Place your bet ,now!

Remember that Bioware teamed up with Sega to make a Sonic RPG for Nintendo DS, so although most of us would agree that the game will be Star Wars related, there is small chance for something else.

Monkey Island RPG? Online?

Monkey Island RPG? Online?

^That could be amazing (mmm... massive insult swordfighting wars...), but somehow, I don't think it's gonna happen.

Yeah your right, after a while of playing it some more and going to message boards I now see that if Lucasarts weren't greedy pig bastards the game would have been a lot better, I mean now that I've finished it ((well almost finished it anyways)) some areas were so much better, when some were so much worse. Bioware and Obsidian should join up and release the shackles of EA and Lucas arts, sadly that will never happen.

Bioware was an awesome independant studios. How can they fall like this in the hands of EA ? :/

That really looks strange to me, they always do great video games and they can't keep their independance ?
If i am right it is first the elevation partners who get their hands on bioware + pandemic.. then they sold them to EA.

I hope but I don't think it'll be KotOR3 and I hope it won't be KotOR online. KotOR should stay single-player. Anything Star Wars is welcome! :)

I hope they dont get their fat, greedy hands on Remedy.

The amount of games EA churns out per year is rediculous. I don't think any company puts out as much games as EA. It's clear that they have one real onus...and that is to monopolize the game industry. For them, it's either, we monopolize the industry, come pretty damn close, or die trying.
