Alan Wake invades Eurogamer!

The german arm of Eurogamer have posted up a bunch of articles related to Alan Wake's American Nightmare hitting PC last week.

First up we have Eurogamer.de's review of Alan Wake's American Nightmare, where they scored the game a very respectable 8 out of 10!

Eurogamer.de also sat down with our Director of Franchise Development, Oskari Häkkinen, to talk about the game and also they brought up the very cool idea of having the Old Gods of Asgard play a live concert! In the interview, Oskari mentioned that if Eurogamer.de can organise a booked out stage it can definitely become a possibility. So if you'd love to see something like this happen, make some noise about it and we'll start the planning if there's enough support!

Speaking of the Old Gods of Asgard, we have a 320 kbit download of the Old Gods of Asgard song featured in American Nightmare, "Balance Slays The Demon".

Lastly, Eurogamer.de are also giving you the chance to win a copy of Alan Wake and Alan Wake's American Nightmare on Steam. Simply head here to enter. Deadline for the comp closes on May 30th.

Lots of goodies there, so big thanks to the team at Eurogamer.de for putting all this together.

Alan Wake: Remedy’s American Dream.

Our very own CTO, Markus Maki, and Art Director, Saku Lehtinen, recently sat down with Edge Magazine and Duncan Harris of Dead End Thrills fame to delve deep down into the making of Alan Wake.

"Alan Wake himself started off having the most in common with Johnny Depp’s character in Secret Window, a writer in a cabin going crazy," says Lehtinen. "In this version, his stance was much more of a victim just generally trying to survive. Over time, with Wake witnessing Alice’s disappearance, it was natural to make him more guilt-driven."

Definitely well worth a read, so head right here!

Remedy Entertainment Ltd. and Nordic Games award Legacy Interactive the retail distribution rights for the boxed PC version of Remedy’s critically acclaimed Psychological Action Thriller “Alan Wake”. The retail version will begin shipping April 3.

Legacy Interactive and Nordic Games announced today the closing of a distribution deal for the PC boxed edition of Alan Wake in North America. Remedy Entertainment Ltd and Nordic Games join forces with Legacy Interactive as the distribution partner for the North American territories.

“We are thrilled to be bringing such an iconic title to North American retail.” said Steve Wall, Vice President of Legacy Interactive. “I have been a longtime fan of Remedy’s work. Max Payne was a true masterpiece and Alan Wake follows in its footsteps as a brilliant feat of storytelling and innovative gameplay.”

“Alan Wake is a great product and we are proud about being able to take it to the North American retail customers. In Legacy Interactive we have found a partner who will give the product the focus it deserves, and also ensure best possible market penetration for the PC retail versions,” commented Egil Strunke, Vice President at Nordic Games.

Apart from the original game, the PC version contains two pieces of downloadable content (The Signal and The Writer) and everything you’d expect from a proper boxed PC version and more. Players will experience Alan Wake’s Pacific Northwest with higher resolutions and even higher fidelity. Players will experience the interplay between light and darkness like never before. With plenty of graphical customization options, every player can get the most out of their rig. Other refinements include a fully configurable mouse and keyboard setup as well as Microsoft gamepad support. Sought-after options by fans such as field of view adjustments and “hide HUD” have also been included. Finally, the game supports multiple screens and stereoscopic 3D.

In Alan Wake, players assume the role of Alan Wake, a best-selling suspense author suffering from writer's block. Wake escapes to the small town of Bright Falls, only to experience the mysterious disappearance of his wife. Players will unravel the riveting plot through multilayered character interactions, unique problem-solving and intense combat against the darkest of enemies. In this nightmarish world, where the boundaries between reality and fiction become increasingly blurred and ambiguous, Wake must use a variety of weapons to survive, including his most powerful ally against the darkness - light itself.
